ELIGIBILITY

Participants must be in 7th-12th grade during the 2012-2013 school year.  2012 high school graduates are also eligible.

AUDITION INFORMATION

• Auditions will be held at The Clayton Center.  Click here for directions.
  

• Those auditioning should come to ONE audition, not both.
  

• Completely fill out the following documents and bring them to the audition: AUDITION FORM, CONFLICT CALENDAR, and CYT POLICIES.
  

• Each student will undergo a group dance audition and a private vocal audition.
  

• Audition order will be based on the sign-in sheet.  Those who arrive early and sign in first will be called first.
  

DANCE AUDITION

• ALL students will go through a 30 minute group dance audition.  The dance audition will start at 6pm on June 1 & 10am on June 2.  Please be on time and dress comfortably for movement. The entire group will be taught a simple routine, that they will then perform in small groups.  Prior dance experience is not necessary.
  

• After the group dance audition, students will be called in for a private vocal audition.  Order will be determined by the sign-in sheet.
  

VOCAL AUDITION

• Students should prepare a song that reflects the style of the show and showcases their vocal ability. (Singing a song from Hairspray is acceptable.)
  

• Students should memorize their song and sing it with piano accompaniment or a CD that contains no vocals.  (An accompanist and CD player will be provided.)  
  

• Singing a cappella is acceptable if the student feels that he/she can sing confidently and on pitch.  However, singing with accompaniment is preferred.
  

CALL BACKS

• If a call-back is necessary, it will be held Sunday, June 3 at 2:00 p.m.  Those students who are needed for the call-back will be notified on Saturday, June 2.
  

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Cast list will be posted on the website no later than 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 3.
  

• Due to limitations in cast size and expected audition turn-out, not every student will be cast in the show.
  

• Rehearsals begin June 5.  Most rehearsals are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  See the Conflict Calendar for specific days and times.
  

• Hairspray will be performed on July 27-28, & August 2-4 @ 7:30pm.
  

FEES

• Cast members are expected to pay a $150 participation fee, payable at the Parent Meeting on June 4.
  

• Crew members are expected to pay a $50 participation fee, payable at the Parent Meeting on June 4.
